Five more sleeps

Only 5 more sleeps now. I would like to say that I have finished my Christmas shopping, but that would be a lie. However, I can report that we have managed to keep the kitten out of the Christmas tree for one whole day. The secret - Vicks Vapour Rub.

The in-laws arrived last night. When I got home from work, Tomas, his Dad and his brother were all playing on the Wii. A little later, Tom's mum joined in. Everyone enjoyed themselves which was good.

Not much else to report except that I send a complaint to Channel 7 about Sunrise this morning who decided that it was a good idea to run a story on Molly Meldrum's dog being missing. I let them know that I felt it was a poor and boring choice of story and that we aren't watching Sunrise this morning. That should tell them.

Wii!!

What more can I say? Everyone who has played one is saying it I'm sure. Tomas and I have spent most of today playing on the Wii. We did take a break (just like the console suggests) and went out to have lunch and do some Christmas shopping.

One of the nice features of the Wii, is that is keeps track of your playing habits and gives you a daily run-down of what you have played and how long you playing it. Today, we have spent the most time by far creating Miis. Miis are characters that you can make and use in some of the games as characters. They are a lot of fun to make. I won't ruin it for those people who are on our friends list by revealing what Miis we have made.

Which brings me to another thing I love about the Wii. The connectivity of it. I love the concept of seeing my friend's Miis appearing on my console. So far however, we've only had one visitor. I'm sure more will come.

Anyway, I must get back to playing the Wii. Tom and I are currently doing 'training' on Wii sports.

Chalked up another life experience

This evening, Tomas and I had what can only be described as 'an experience'.

We were stuck in our building's lift tonight for about an hour. Being stuck in a lift is an unpleasant thing to begin with but when you don't have a mobile phone on you and the emergency phone calls a disconnected number it makes matters worse. Also, we were stuck between two floors and could only see about 10cm of the lift door for the floor below us.

After about 5 minutes of being stuck in the lift, we heard someone walking in one of the two hallways we were stuck between. So Tom banged on the door. Luckily, Paul from Unit 14 heard us and called the lift company. They sent the lift guy out from Capalaba which took a while. When he eventually arrived, there was no way to get us out easily. Our lift doesn't have a trap door and it didn't stop where it is required to by law.

In the end, the lift guy, hauled us up to the next floor where we literally climbed out. Once we were out lift guy told us that our lift doesn't comply with building standards...at least he waited until we were out.

In case you are wondering, while we were in the lift, we played the alphabet game. Firstly with important figures of the ancient world which was quite hard and secondly, I challenged Tom to play with race horses.
